HISTORY

The Pan American Golf Association of Irving was the concept of its founders; Gilbert Hernandez, Temo Munoz, Ray Reyes, Jr. and Perry Vecchio. Their vision was to form a new club – a Central Players Club – that would attract golf enthusiasts from the Mid-Cities area of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

In 1987, after an investigative process that took into account the availability of golfing facilities and population growth in the mid-cities area, their vision became a reality and the Central Players Club was born. The new club would be based in Irving, Texas. The Central Players Club was initially organized with twenty eight (28) members.

Two (2) years later, in 1989, the Central Players Club petitioned the National Pan American Golf Association (NPAGA) to be admitted as a chapter into the national organization. Admission requirements were met and a proposal was presented to the NPAGA delegates during the 1989 National Convention and Golf Tournament in Houston, Texas. The NPAGA delegates approved the admission proposal and the Central Players Club was established as the Irving Chapter of the National Pan American Golf Association

The Irving Chapter has always taken an active role in the administration and operation of the NPAGA and has earned a reputation of being a trendsetter. Its members have served on many NPAGA committees and held national office. The chapter is recognized as a young, but strong and innovative organization with a demonstrated willingness to promote the goals and ideals of the NPAGA.

The Irving Chapter hosted the 1994 National PAGA Winter Meeting and Tournament and the 2005 national PAGA Convention and Tournament.

The membership also takes an active role in community service projects by supporting high school golf activities, awarding scholarships to high school students, providing financial assistance to social and charitable organizations such as LULAC and Rudy’s Tortillas Foundation. Additionally, the organization has donated funds to the Texas Diabetes Research Foundation and disaster victims throughout the United States.

The Irving PAGA sponsors an annual invitational golf tournament to raise funds to support its scholarship and charitable projects.

The success of the Irving PAGA can be attributed directly to the commitment of its membership - a group of amateur golfers and associate members that actively promote the goals and objectives of our organization.

We are a family working together to help each other as well as the communities we live in. The Irving PAGA can be very proud of its history and what we have achieved in a very short period of time.
